Polybutyleneterephthalate (PBT) is one of the most widely used semi-crystalline engineering plastics. Compared to PA 6.6 it offers lower moisture absorption and better creep properties up to 130 C, at the expense of lower impact strength and slightly more difficult processability.
- Semi-crystalline structure with a Tg of 60 C and a melting point of 217 C
- High stiffness, strength and hardness
- Good thermal stability
- Low moisture absorption and excellent dimensional stability
- Excellent wear properties
- Chemical resistance against aliphatic hydrocarbons, oils and greases; not resistant to alkalis, strong acids and hot water
- Outstanding colour stability at elevated temperatures
- Excellent UV stability
